Nigeria’s Super Eagles continued their preparations for the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday night with a 2-0 loss to Serbia in London.

Both of Serbia’s goals came courtesy of Aleksandar Mitrović.

After a goalless first half, the Serbians, reeling from their 2-1 defeat to Morocco last Friday, went into the lead in the 68th minute through

Mitrović who slammed the ball past Francis Uzoho in the Nigerian goal after latching onto Filip Kostić’s cross.

Nine minutes from the end, with the Super Eagles surging forward in search of an equaliser, the Fulham striker struck again to hand his side an unassailable lead at The Hive.

The defeat is the first for Gernot Rohr’s side since the start of their build-up towards the World Cup where they will be up against Croatia, Iceland and Argentina.
