In this book, entitled, ‘No time for later’, written by Kally Abutu , the author made use of stories to captivate the minds of the readers, as well as to make them see positivity of life and how best they can take accomplish their goals through detailed schedules and plans.
This 2022 publication of Gift love charity foundation, the publishing arm of CreativeInk, a charity organization aimed at captivating the minds of people in order to see the positivity in achieving success.
The book is divided into eight chapters and has 70 pages. Chapter one, Dream without restrictions, first step to actualizing a dream is to set a goal, youths have the power and zeal to think beyond what the old can do, there is no better time to think of the future than now.
Chapter two, The goal concept, everyone in life that has achieved greatness in life, one way or the other has had one goal or the other in mind. It was pursued and called a success in the latter days. There are 3 different types of goals: personal, academic and career goals. Goals are continuous and wide at different stages of life. Goals are time-based: short, medium and long term goals. Examples of sensible goals are volunteering, weekend vacation on budget, virtual/physical training to develop skills.
Chapter three, Goal setting, this entails the process we go through in order to achieve the desired results we want to see. Categories of youths are: those who set goals and go through with it, those who set goals and find it difficult to go through with it, those who set goals for themselves and are not doing anything about it, those who have idea of their goals and don’t know how to define it, those who think they don’t have a goal at the moment, those who have not settled down to define their goals.
Chapter four, How to identify your goals, whatever goals that needs to be set needs to align with one’s passion and future. Find a quiet place, take a deep breath, pray about what matters to your future and passion, set goals and reach other to parents, teachers and mentors for help.
Chapter five, How to set goals, start with the easiest goals then to the complex, set goals that are motivating, goals to be set should be right and good. Goals to be set should be sticked to until they are accomplished, the goals should be SMART.
Chapter six, Be a smart goal setter, SMART has been the internationally recognized goal setting standard worldwide and it was founded by George Doreen in 1981.The goals must be specific, well defined, measurable, attainable, realistic and time-bound.
Chapter seven, Why you should set goals, so as to sustain the vision and focus, increase productivity, increase performance and success, track progress and accomplishment. Goal setting is a driving force to achieve goals either academics, business, career, family or spiritual goals.
Chapter eight, Using positive affirmations in achieving your goals, positive affirmations use good and positive words to influence one’s thoughts. Positive affirmations helps to fire up actions, help to withstand adversity, help to focus on goals etc. A typical example of positive words affirmations is; I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Chapter nine, Goal setting resources, examples of goal setting resources that are readily available are: Notebooks, diaries, workbooks, writing apps (jotter pad, words pad), calendars, goal setting games, scrapbooks, speech to text app etc.
Chapter ten, When your goals dies not go as planned, some goals tends to get modified as the journey continues, it might be a failure after all efforts have been invested, don’t panic, learn from those that are successful today. Be careful not to be jealous, seek mentorship, pray and move on.
Chapter eleven, Celebrate, A failure doesn’t mean that’s the end, it simply means the first attempt in learning. Even after failing, never forget to believe in yourself, keep saying words of positive affirmations in order to fire up your inner mind to zeal up and fight for success and glory. This book is like a light to everyone out there who is blind to achieving his or her goals, skeptical about being successful in life, who has no future ambition.
Dear teens, now go and set goals, go and achieve them. Remember never to give up, remember to breathe, know when to pause, know when to discontinue, remember when to learn, be teachable and remember to move on. You are the best than you can ever imagine. Go out there and make positive impacts.
