The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), yesterday, says it is doing everything possible to “mend all the crack walls” within its fold as the party begins its official campaign in the Southwest states for the 2019 February 16, presidential election.

Chief Eddy Olafeso, the national vice chairman of the PDP in the Southwest, disclosed this at the party’s stakeholders’ meeting held in Akure, Ondo State, which was attended by many stalwarts of the party.

According to Olafeso, the real battle before the main opposition party is to regain power from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in next month’s presidential and general elections.

He expressed the willingness of both members and leaders of the PDP in Southwest states to build a strong and cohesive party in the build up to the general election.

“We are doing everything to resolve it. I spoke with both the aggrieved parties from Ogun State, especially Senator Buruji Kashamu and Ladi Adebutu,” he said.

“It is a wonderful development that we have been able to unify them at this moment that our elections are few weeks away because victory is certain for us.

“In Ekiti State, peace is a process and we are looking at ensuring that everybody works together, and you know that in politics, it is all about disagreeing to agree.

“So, I am very confident that all the main issues will work for the victory of PDP and there is understanding between former governor, Ayodele Fayose and Senator Remi Olujimi that the PDP must win in Ekiti”.

On the alleged rigging plans by the APC, the main opposition party in the country urged citizens of the country to be watchful and vigilant.

“Nigerians must be very vigilant. We are going to be watchful because whatever happens to this country also happens to the entire world. We are confident that Nigerians will do the needful and ensure that rigging does not take place.

“Here in Africa, in the near future, the people’s will, will prevail. Nobody in this 21st century can lay any claim to be an authoritarian. It is not going to work because our people will overcome in the final analysis.”

“So, already, we have been educating not only the voters but members of our party, and our agents that they must pay attention to what they are supposed to do on the day of voting,” Olafeso ended.
