With a mere 10 per cent appearance at the Olympic Games and other international competitions, Nigeria’s bid to increase performance in sports received a boost, yesterday, with the unveiling in Lagos State, of the West Africa’s first Trampoline Park- Upbeat Recreation Centre.

The project, a brainchild of Uraga Real Estate, is an expression of its vision to transform people, spaces and lives in the country, by offering a multi-purpose fun facility and state-of-the-art services to Nigerians and others.

Speaking at the launch, the Executive Director, Uraga Real Estate Limited, Mrs. Moyo Ogunseinde, said the project was borne out of necessity, a place of passion to essentially fill a gap in the market, where families could find fun and fitness in one place. She said the provision of a world-class trampoline park could be used by gymnasts to train for important international sporting events, such as the Olympic Games.

Ogunseinde, who noted that Nigeria had more chances of participating in up to 50 per cent and winning gymnastic competitions, said the country only partakes in approximately 10 per cent at the Olympics. She added that developing and training athletes in world-class facilities like Upbeat would give the country and West Africa in general the potential to produce gymnastic stars.

Chief Executive Officer, Uraga Real Estate, Dr. G.S. Yakubu, stressed that the company intends to revolutionalise real estate in the country, transform social landscape and lifestyles.

The centre Operation Manager, Uyok Hanson, explained that using the trampoline and other fitness facilities essentially help the lymphatic system and aid individual wellbeing.

Amenities at the centre include an indoor trampoline park, an outdoor basketball court and a five-a-side football pitch.
