Yellow House wins maiden Grenville School’s competition

Yellow House at the weekend won the maiden Grenville Schools inter-house sports competition held at the Yaba College of Technology Sports Centre, Yaba.

The House came tops in the over all medals table with 16 gold, 10 silver and eight bronze medals to place first, while Green House came second with nine gold, 13 silver and 11 bronze medals.

Red House was third with nine gold, six silver and 12 bronze medals, as Blue House settled for the fourth position after garnering six gold, 11 silver and nine bronze medals.

In the march past, Blue House was first by 112 points, Green House with 99 points came second, Yellow House came third with 90 points, while Red House was fourth with 84 points.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of Grenville Schools, Mr. Olajide Babalola said the maiden inter-house competition was the beginning of history in the school. “I am sure that we are going to make an indelible mark in educating and promoting excellence in all ramification.

“Some may refer to us as a growing school but our achievements in sports have clearly shown that this is a great school growing into stardom.

The Head of Schools, Mrs. Sanchita Ghosh, while quoting the former President of the International Olympic Committee, Juan Antonio Samaranch, said sport is friendship, health, education and life and that it brings the whole world together.

“We know that in addition to improved physical health, sports play a positive role in the development, which includes improved academic achievements, higher self-esteem, fewer behavioural problems and better psycho-social existence, she said.
