The Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva, has said that the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), is mindful and concerned about the increased price of gas; vowing to take action to address the situation, especially as the Yuletide draws near.

Sylva said this on Tuesday while addressing State House correspondents after a meeting with the President where he presented CEOs of two new agencies under his ministry: the Nigerian Upstream Regulatory Commission and the Nigerian Downstream and Midstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority at the Presidential Villa.

The minister explained that the Buhari regime has no control of gas price, rather, the international market determines the price of the commodity.

He, however, affirmed that there would be some adjustment to the elements of the pricing to allow a reduction.
