Ahead of today’s general election, the Inter-Faith Youth Network Of Nigeria has called on citizens to ensure a violence free and fair election.
The co-chairman of the group, Abubakar Muhammed Saraki, made the call, yesterday, in Abuja during a national prayer, organised by the group for the success and peaceful conduct of the election.
He said the group is a combination of both Muslims and Christians who put aside their differences to come together and work for a better Nigeria. “We are basically youths of different states that decided to come together for a common goal by keeping our differences aside.

“We are here to organise a national prayer for the nation as we all know, today, we will be electing our leaders and it is very important that we pray for this election to be successful and violence free because if this election is surrounded by violence, it means the peace and unity we are trying to maintain is no longer there,” he said.
On his part, a Catholic Priest of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, and also a co-chairman, Rev John Sixtus Okonkwo, said the prayer became necessary in order to keep the country at peace.
“There is need for religious leaders to invest their time in prayers and sacrifice to make sure that our country is peaceful. That is why we decided to gather both Christians and Muslims to pray for the peace and success of this election.”
