Less than 6,000 of the country’s 30,000 primary healthcare facilities work for 24hours, Co-Convener Coalition on Sustainable Healthcare Electrification in Nigeria, Tunde Salman, has said.

He spoke on Friday in Abuja during a policy dialogue on Powering Primary Healthcare Centres in Nigeria through sustainable reliable clean energy solutions with innovative funding models.

He called on the government to prioritise policy action on renewable energy for PHCs to enable them work 24-7.

He also urged state governments to create a budget line in their health budgets to support the electrification of PHCs.
