Nollywood Actors To March In Support Of Peace In Owerri

As part of its commitment to discourage rising insecurity, Nollywood actors and actresses have disclosed that they will embark on a street march in Owerri to promote peace and security in Imo State.

At the Nollywood at 20 anniversary ceremony, which was held in Owerri, the celebrities said that there was no alternative to peace.

Concerned by heightened insecurity in the state, the celebrities said that the roadshow was to tell the residents of the state that insecurity was affecting the economy of the state.

Scriptwriter and actor, Lambert Nnorom, who was the chairman of Nollywood at 20 anniversary, said that actors and actresses will tour major roads in Owerri to promote peace.

Nnorom said, “The activities on November 26, will involve the touring of major roads and streets in the state capital by Guild members and all lovers of entertainment. The objective of this event is to promote entertainment and encourage people to embrace peace, unity and progress in Imo State.

We will also involve the coaching of AGN members and industry wannabes on professionalism, instructions on alternative income sources to support their practice in the industry and how to shoot themselves to stardom.”

The chairman, Actors Guild of Nigeria in the state, Nneoma Ukpabi, said that AGN in the state was committed to helping the state government achieve a lasting peace.

The famous actress said that she and AGN members in the state would explore all legal means to promote peace in the state, adding that insecurity was affecting the growth of the state.

She said, “AGN in Imo State is committed to peace and development. We are supporting the state government in this regard. This march on November 26 is to support the genuine intentions of the government towards achieving lasting peace in Imo State.

“Imo State parades notable Nollywood actors and actresses and we will be relying on this to make a huge point in this peace process.”
